As costumed Dr. Seuss characters arrived, Carnival staff asked the children to scream solely for the sake of screaming. Ear-piercing shrieks reverberated throughout the space, which was also blocked off to passengers trying to pass through. I arrived 15 minutes early for a magic show at the Punchliner Comedy Club, and I couldn't find a single available seat in the entire place. On another night, I showed up on time for Family Feud Live in the ship's theater, and it was a standing-room-only situation.

The ship was definitely showing wear and tear, and definitely seemed short-staffed. At the buffet some of the serving staff was coughing while serving the food - ew. Walking through deck 5 was like walking through a smoke-stack. We also had some "odors" on deck 8 where our cabin was, filtering up to the aft pool at times.

The menu includes cold sandwiches (tuna sandwich, ham and cheese, or peanut butter), hot sandwiches (grilled cheese, reuben with corned beef, etc.), chicken fajita, mixed greens, and assorted vegetables. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to get the food delivered to the room. Breakfast is served until 11 am, and has to be ordered in advance by 4 am. The Chef's Table is an experience that Carnival offers on several vessels in its fleet that blends a behind-the-scenes look at the ship's galley with a high-end dinner. After a galley tour hosted by the ship’s chef de cuisine, passengers sit down to a gourmet meal.
Carnival Jubilee bars
There are dozens of sun loungers, four hot tubs and showers to get the sea salt off. On sea days, the Lanai turns into the Ocean Grille, where you can get sliders and hot dogs. There is no bar outside, if you want something to drink you have to go inside and get it.
Located right above the Lido, it has a beautiful view of the ocean -- a perfect place for a romantic dinner. There is no charge for the pasta lunch, but dinner carries a surcharge of $12 per person ($5 for kids). The king-size bed is quite comfortable, with big pillows and a thick blanket.
Drinking age
Underneath the TV is a cabinet containing a mini bar and safe. If requested, Carnival will lock the mini bar for the duration of the voyage. Like other Carnival ships, the Carnival Magic isn’t a luxury product.

It features comedy, magic, karaoke, live music, art auctions, and the always-entertaining murder mystery. It has a smallish stage and a comfortable interior with benches and padded chairs. At the very front of the ship, on decks 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11, are hidden sun decks. Most are only accessible through the interior hallways. The full service beauty salon features hair styling, coloring, manicures, and pedicures.
Spa and Gym Overview
All pools are filled with saltwater, but you can rinse off in one of the many freshwater showers. The RedFrog Pub is located on deck five, right next to the sushi bar. Inspired by Caribbean pubs, the colors inside are vibrant. Carnival offers a specially brewed beer and Caribbean-inspired snacks.
We have been on Magic several times, and visited all the ports mentioned numerous times (on other ships) - to the point we just go shop for a bit then go back and use the ship as a deserted floating hotel. In San Juan I would walk to the forts if you have never been. Lots of shopping on all the little streets if so inclined.

Cabins are relatively plain, though perfectly functional, and the dining isn’t gourmet (though the food in the main dining rooms is if anything a cut above what’s offered on competing mass-market lines). It’s also not a formal ship, if that’s what you crave. Carnival Jubilee has standard North American 110-volt outlets in its cabins, as well as plenty of USB ports. In my balcony room, I had three standard outlets and four USB lightning ports by the vanity. There was also a USB port (non-lightning) on either side of the bed, just below the reading lamp.
At the Photo Gallery, passengers can purchase any pictures taken by the ship’s photographers. All the photos are exhibited on the walls, and may be selected on computer with one’s cabin card. Deck four is also where Magic's library is located, opposite of the Escape bar and next to the Northern Lights entrance. There are a lot of books and games in here, where families and friends can hang out. The room itself is pretty small, but the couch, a fun hub, and a bigger table for gaming make it all very homey and comfortable. The Spotlight Lounge is actually Magic’s second stage.
Ambulatory-accessible rooms provide accommodations for people who walk with the help of assistive devices like canes or walkers. In terms of food and drinks, I had a strange experience at Chibang! Usually, they don't have meat in them, nor was meat listed as an ingredient on the menu. If I were a vegetarian or vegan, it would have concerned me.
The two formal dining rooms on Carnival Magic are the Southern Lights and the smaller Northern Lights. Both restaurants are the focal point of dining onboard the ship. For those who like laughter with their food, is the Punchliner Comedy Brunch, taking place in the Spotlight Lounge only on sea days. The real foodies who are curious about how the galley feeds so many people, have to check out Chef's Table. For US$75 per person, you'll be able to meet the head chef and tour the galley, as well as dine on a multi-course meal at a private table, while watching the chefs at work. Carnival Magic offers a number of options when it comes to food.
Another excellent dinner during my voyage occurred at Rudi's Seagrill (Deck 8), an upscale seafood restaurant named for chef and pop artist Rudi Sodamin. The lobster macaroni and cheese was the perfect indulgence to start my meal, and I followed it up with a delicious crab cake. Excellent added-fee options include steak, seafood and teppanyaki, which might be worth trying if you're celebrating a special occasion or feeling like a splurge.
One is a smoking-allowed area, the other is non-smoking. One of the best dishes here is the garlic naan, made fresh at the station. Other dishes include chicken curry, lamb, salads, and yogurt sauces. At the deli you can get freshly-made hot and cold sandwiches. La Cucina has the feel of a small, family-owned restaurant, with checkered table cloths, different looking chairs and high tables.
