Enjoy classic dishes like spaghetti carbonara, hearty lasagna, and indulgent tiramisu. The flavors and aromas of Italy come alive, showcasing the authenticity and richness of Italian cuisine. With a fleet of impressive ships that feature state-of-the-art amenities and a plethora of onboard activities, Carnival Cruise ensures that guests are entertained from the moment they step onboard. From thrilling water slides to luxurious spa treatments, there is no shortage of options for relaxation and excitement.
Carnival dining options exclusive to a few ships
We were delighted to spend some time during our sea day at Afternoon Tea. Although there was a small selection of complimentary tea, they rolled around a cart around filled with tons of divine-looking desserts. We sampled scones with cream, chocolate layered cake, lemon sponge cake, peach crumble and macarons. One of Carnival’s signature food options is the Carnival Deli, which serves old-time favorite sandwiches.
Guy's Burger Joint
This big restaurant is one of two eateries onboard Carnival Jubilee that highlight the line’s partnership with celebrity chef Guy Fieri. This is an unusual but winning combination of cuisines in a festive setting filled with color and folk art details. For a surcharge, there is a golden roasted duck entree that is carved table side but don’t let the “for two” description fool you — it is big enough to feed four or more. My one quibble here is that there are no Asian beers like Tsing Tao or Kirin Ichiban on the menu, which would be ideal with dishes like Chicken Spring Rolls and Hakka Noodles. A staple on every Carnival ship, this go-to for authentic Mexican food is located forward of the Beach Pool on Deck 16.
What Food is Included on Carnival Cruise?
The main dining room’s dessert menu consists of three selections rotating every night. One of the selections offered each night is usually a low-cal, no-sugar treat. There are also coffees and teas available to complement your dessert. Every night, you’ll find six sides offered at the bottom of the main dining room menu. These are served in addition to whatever sides you have with your meal.
Fee and Specialty Dining on Carnival Magic
Because gratuities are automatically added to your bill for the trip, you do not need to tip each waiter individually. However, there are some instances where you will need to add an additional gratuity, such as for room service (even for the free items) or often at bars. There are, of course, premium options or special activities – like the Dr. Seuss breakfast – but these are purely optional. When I was researching which cruise line to go with, Carnival seemed to have a good reputation for having delicious food. Over the years I’ve racked up some tips that may be useful if you’re planning your first cruise—or even better, have your first cruise booked.
Main Dining Room Breakfast on a Carnival Cruise
The 12-hour french toast had crispy, caramelized edges, topped with roasted peaches; it was packed with flavor. My sister and I both agreed it was probably the best french toast we’ve ever had in my life. We went back for a second time on the last sea day and each ordered our own plate to savor its goodness. No, alcohol is not included in the all-inclusive package on Carnival cruises. However, there are several drink packages available for purchase that offer unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Like many cruise lines, Carnival adds a daily gratuity fee to your onboard account to cover tipping for the ship’s crew.
This commitment to culinary excellence is evident in the taste and presentation of the dishes served onboard. It’s important to communicate your dietary restrictions and special accommodations in advance to allow Carnival Cruise to make the necessary arrangements. For those looking to indulge in alcoholic beverages, Carnival Cruise offers a selection of drinks for purchase.

Time Fries offers craft french fries creations, such as chili cheese dog fries, Philly cheese steak fries and buffalo tater tots. You also can find some tasty chicken wings here for an added charge. I think this has been a fantastic addition to Carnival Cruise Line’s food lineup. Big Chicken is a casual hot chicken sandwich and chicken tenders eatery (no added fee) in partnership with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

There is also a soft serve ice cream station, which our boys loved going to. Jack was SO excited because one day we let him have ice cream with his breakfast (I know, parents of the year). The kid’s menu was great – they had several different options, and our boys loved being able to pick one out. Be warned, though – the pasta side was HUGE, and it definitely was more like a main dish. When we booked our cruise, the only options available still were late dining and your time dining. Since we have small children, it was a pretty easy choice what we were going to do.
I also enjoyed my ham and cheese sandwich, in which I chose to swap mustard for mayo. It was made to order and served on two big slices of fresh bread. This was one of my favorite spots last time I cruised; so, on our first sea day, I decided to have this for lunch. I also went to BlueIguana on the last morning of our cruise to have a breakfast burrito because I had heard multiple people talking about how good they were. I filled mine with ham, egg, cheese, skillet hash browns, onions and sour cream in a warm tortilla.
Again, we were won over by a flavorful feast full of some of our favorite “takeout” Asian food offerings. In total, there are 9 free restaurants and 5 for-fee options on Carnival Magic. Restaurant menus range from Mongolian to pizza and steakhouse and pub favorites.
I was surprised by the quality of food served at the Carnival Deli. It was much better than I anticipated - and way better than the deli we had on campus back in college. Service was a little slow and the line was long, which indicates that it’s a favorite among everyone. Since it was so expensive for one drink ($17 after tip) and I didn’t have a drink package, I didn’t make another trip back to the bar. Hopefully on a future Carnival cruise, I can sample some of the other delicious sounding cocktails. This was another venue raved about when I was doing some research on the food options available on Carnival Ecstasy.

We didn’t go to this, but I’m sure it was great…we just didn’t want to pay 🙂 I know bigger cruise ships have other paid options, but you can check on the Carnival website for more specifics on these. If you're planning your next cruise and want to know which Carnival restaurants to expect on board, you've come to the right place. While certain dining venues remain a standard across all ships — like the much-loved Lido Deck buffet — the options keep expanding with every new ship launch. Plus, older ships are constantly being refurbished and updated with new restaurants.
This is a casual eatery in the Currents zone, down on Deck 6 of the ship. The bistro was created in partnership with celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse and features some of his favorite Creole creations. This menu is priced a la carte, and you can get appetizers like charbroiled eastern oysters or marinated blue crab claws. For bigger plate options, you might pick roasted chicken and andouille sausage gumbo or the fried shrimp and oyster po boy.
